The Kiva New York Lending Team is a group of New York-area lenders on Kiva, a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world. Learn more about how it works.

We work together as a team of New Yorkers to raise funds towards Kiva loans. Each of our loans, when added up, can make a huge difference. We are dedicated to:

• Spreading the word about Kiva in the New York City area
• Getting lenders and non-lenders together to meet each other offline
• Raising funds for our team’s nonwithdrawable lending fund

As of 2011, Kiva has facilitated loans totaling more than $260 million — all through peer-to-peer loans. Once the loans are repaid, lenders have the choice to reinvest that money or remove their funds from Kiva. To understand how it all works, watch The Pedro Story.
